Undergraduate regulations

The college was established by Republican Decree No. 142 of 1976, and studies began in the academic year 1979/1980 in four scientific departments: the Arabic Language Department, the English Language Department, the French Language Department, and the History Department, according to the regulations of the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University. In the year 1993, the internal regulations of the Faculty of Arts, Mansoura University were issued In the year 2003, the amended regulations for the accredited college were issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 1350 dated 8/20/2003.The college is currently dedicating the preparation of a new regulation for the bachelor's degree, in the context of seeking to graduate a creative citizen, who has the ability to interact with high efficiency with a changing world and is able to participate positively in scientific research in his field of specialization, open scientific channels with international universities, and provide advisory and research services to community institutions. Regulations for student conduct and discipline:

The following are considered a violation of the law, regulations, and the university ethics:

  • Acts violating the college system or damaging the university facilities.
  • Disruption of study, incitement or abstention from attending classes.
  • Any act that goes against honor, dignity or any misconduct of any kind.
  • Any violation of the examination system and cheating or attempting to cheat by any means in exams.
  • Any action of vandalism involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.
  • Any student organization working on campus without getting an approval of its work or having a license from the university administration and authorities.
  • Distributing leaflets, flyers, pamphlets, issuing wall papers or collecting signatures for petitions without prior authorization.
  • Sit ins at the university buildings or participating in demonstrations the might result in chaos and go against the public order or morals.
  • Any student who cheats in an exam or attempts to cheat and is caught cheating, his or her exam gets cancelled by the Dean or anyone on his or her behalf. Then he or she gets subject to investigations and a penalty committee. According to the decision made by this committee, he or she might be denied entry to the exams of the rest of subjects and the student fails in all subjects and is referred to the Disciplinary Board.

Penalties:

  • Oral or written alert.
  • Warning.
  • Deprivation of attending a course for a period not exceeding one month.
  • Expulsion from college for a period not exceeding one month.
  • Getting banned from taking an exam in one or more courses.
  • Canceling an exam in one or more courses.
  • Regulations of Post-Graduate Studies 2018-2019

  • Expulsion from college for a period not exceeding a semester.
  • Getting banned from taking an exam in one or more semesters.
  • Expulsion from college for more than one semester.

2- The final expulsion from the university and the decision not to be admitted into any other Egyptian university.

The university council may reconsider this final decision after at least three years of expulsion.

3- No penalty mention in article (126) is to be imposed until the student goes through investigations and giving him or her the chance to defend himself or herself. However, if he or she doesn't show up on time on the day of investigations, he or she is prohibited from his or her right to defend himself or herself. The dean of the faculty appoints an investigator, and this investigator should not be a member in the Disciplinary Board.

4- According to article no. 127 decisions made by entitled authorities are final.

5- However, the objection may be made to decision issued in absentia by the Disciplinary Board within one week from the date of informing the student about it or his or her guardian. The decision is considered final and in the presence of the defendants if the request of attendance has been informed to the student or his or her guardian and neither of them has shown up without submitting an acceptable excuse.

6- The decision of the Student Disciplinary Board shall be appealed unless by submitting it in a form of a written request . by the student to the President of the University within 15 days from the date of notification of the decision and shall be transferred to the Supreme Disciplinary Board within fifteen days.

Authorities Entitled of Imposing Penalties:

1- Professors and Associate Professors: They have the right to impose the first four penalties for what happens during the students' classes, lectures and various university activities.

2- Dean of the Faculty: He has the right to impose the first eight penalties. In case of causing any disturbance of the system or fear of irregularity of the study or examination, the Dean of the Faculty has the right to impose all the penalties. However, he has to refer the penalty of expulsion to the Disciplinary Board within two weeks from the date of its issuing. He has to refer other penalties to the president of university to get his or her approval .

3- The president of the university: The president of the university, in return, has the right to impose all of these penalties except for the one concerned with final expulsion as he or she has to consult the dean of the faculty first. He can prevent the student referred to the Disciplinary Board from entering the university until the appointed date for his trial.

4- The Disciplinary Board: It can impose all of the penalties.

5- The decision of referring the student to the Disciplinary Board is the university president's decision or upon the request of the faculty dean.

6- The Disciplinary Board consists of the following:

-The Dean.

-The Vice-Dean.

-The Oldest Member of the College Council.

7- The Higher Disciplinary Board consists of the following:

-Vice-President of Education and Student Affairs(Chairperson)

-Dean of the Faculty of Law or one of its Professors.

-A Professor of the school the student is enrolled in.

8- The members of the higher council should be approved of by the president of university.
