Through the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic, regarding combating the misconceptions and ideas that extremist groups and those with special agendas spread in the minds of young people, the digital media through digital campaigns are biased, and the university’s keenness to increase the awareness of university youth and the weight of their personal faculties

Today, Thursday, the Faculty of Arts, in cooperation with the Committee for Combating Terrorism and Extremism at Mansoura University, organized a workshop entitled: “Digital Media Education for Immunization against Prejudicial Media Content,” attended by Dr. Ahmed Ahmed Othman, Assistant Professor at the Department of Media at the Faculty of Arts, under the generous patronage of Dr. Ashraf Abdul Basit, President of the University, and the leadership of Dr. Mahmoud El-Meligy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Suleiman Al-Jaidi, Dean of the College of Arts.
The workshop activities began with a speech by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Jaidi, Dean of the College, in which he welcomed the attendees, praising the awareness role played by the University’s Committee to Combat Terrorism and Extremism in immunizing students and university staff from the dangers of extremist groups and ideas, stressing that media education plays an important role in preserving the capabilities of nations. Awareness of media methods that will verify the authenticity of the news spread through digital platforms contributes to reducing false news and information prevalent in the minds of young people, and not obeying those ideas contributes to maintaining the unity of the community.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Ahmed Othman, assistant professor of media at the college, talked about the role that parents can play in digital media education through the positive participation of their children of what they watch and listen to content through digital platforms, and how to confront media misinformation and dissemination of false information that is being reported. It was circulated through social media, indicating the importance of developing the ability to think as one of the tools for the ability to differentiate between true and false news.
At the end of the meeting, discussion and dialogue was opened with all students and their inquiries were listened to and answered. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Jaidi presented the college shield to Dr. Ahmed Ahmed Othman in appreciation of his efforts and effective participation in order to enrich the knowledge of the college and university students, and thanked the college’s youth care for their active participation In organizing the events of the symposium.
The workshop was attended by a group of university faculty members headed by: Dr. Wael Al-Sayed Al-Borai, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Sami Al-Najjar, Professor and Head of the Media Department at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Ibrahim Saada, a teacher in the Department of History at the Faculty, and Dr. Dalia Raslan, a teacher at the Faculty of Arts Student activities coordinator.
It is worth noting that the workshop comes within the framework of the continuation of the activities of the strategic plan of the Committee to Counter Terrorism and Extremism at the university, headed by Dr. Head of the Committee to Combat Terrorism and Extremism at the university.
